Build a home sauna budget beyond the sticker price

Separate the quoted cabin, package, site work, delivery, installation and tax.

Use a known subtotal until every required cost is quoted or explicitly estimated. Missing delivery or electrical costs are unresolved items, not free services.

Start with the exact offer

Choose a wood, heater and controller configuration before recording the cabin price. A starting price can belong to a different option. Financing instalments are not a replacement for the full product price.

Record currency, check date and whether tax is included. A US sticker price should not silently become an Australian or British estimate through currency conversion. Availability, freight coverage and tax depend on the actual transaction.

Keep a line for each part of the project

List the cabin package, missing heater or controls, delivery, assembly, site preparation, electrical work and tax treatment. Write “unknown” while waiting for a quote. If the seller confirms a cost is included, record that confirmation rather than assuming it.

The budget tool adds amounts in one currency and keeps open items beside the subtotal. An estimated line remains an estimate. A known product price with an unquoted installation cost is not a complete installed total.

Compare quotes on the same scope

Ask whether delivery stops at the kerb, includes moving panels to the installation area, or includes assembly and removal of packaging. A higher quote may include work the cheaper quote excludes.

Use the printable breakdown when requesting estimates. Enter your own local quotations; the tool provides no nationwide labour rate or guaranteed installed price.

An incomplete quote should look incomplete

Imagine a confirmed cabin price and an unquoted delivery charge. The correct output is the cabin subtotal with delivery still open. Entering zero because the field is empty would incorrectly imply that the service costs nothing. The same rule applies to required equipment and site work.

A zero can be useful once the seller confirms that an item is included or not required. Record that scope explicitly. Tax included on one line does not establish the tax treatment of another contractor’s quotation, so the tool keeps the basis of each line separate.
